Censura Legal Pressure

FLIP has detected that through the use of legal actions, the opinion journalism can be put under pressure and therefore is being violated the right of freedom of the press.

In the Colombian legislation many legal actions that can be conducted against journalists can be found, although this is not the nature of its role, these actions are used whenever the journalists make statements that are not evident or for disclosing true information that discredit someone.

In some cases these legal actions step in to quieten down the criticism but also move on some damaging effects on the press, so that journalists may feel intimidated and adjust their publications.

Therefore, the Foundation has begun to monitor these actions moved on against journalists for work-related reasons and to success in a censorship’s effect in journalism.
